Our Story

The Inclusive English Program was created with one idea in mind:

“What if learning English could also help us understand global issues?”

The Inclusive English Program combines English learning and GCED together. GCED as the abbreviation of Global Citizenship Education helps learners understand global issues and how our lives are connected, appreciate different perspectives and identities, think critically about the world around them, and develop the ability to contribute to more just, peaceful, and sustainable societies.

At IEP, we explore these ideas through real-world issues from human rights to climate change, involving identity, peace, as well as technology. As learners explore them, they also build the English skills they need to understand information, communicate their ideas, and connect with a wider world.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make Global Citizenship Education more personally valuable for learners through English learning. We want learners to not only learn pressing issues but also come away with skills they can use in their own lives.

IEP does this through real-world stories, art, evidence, and different perspectives that encourage learners to critically think the issues and while approaching them with humanity. We hope to make learning English feel less like completing a lesson and more like exploring humanity through another language.

To be Inclusive

Why the word Inclusive in our domain?

Because we believe learning should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background, circumstances, or level of English. Being inclusive is also an important part of Global Citizenship Education. We learn to understand different perspectives, respect diversity, and recognize that despite our differences, we are all part of humanity and many of the challenges we face affect us beyond borders, and addressing them requires us to work with one another.

Looking Forward

The Inclusive English Program is more than a place to improve your English. It is a growing learning platform that we hope to develop alongside the people who use it. As IEP grows, we want to create more ways for learners to explore global issues, strengthen their English, understand different perspectives, and develop their own voices.
